    Great tip, thanks. I already solved this problem by not using cnn.com anymore, just not worth it. Now using BBC News.

    The same trick works in Firefox 50.1.0, certainly in El Capitan.

    I used to do this constantly for facebook, but now the mute button that used to show when I right clicked is gone! Noticed it yesterday when I tried to do it and couldn’t find it!

    Why is it not there the possibility of deactivating it directly on the general definitions – I never want anything to start playing automatically. It is my decision. It is already irritating enoough to have all the ads in the middle os text we are reading, now this!
